Well, we are around 28 young people  actively involved behind Fireflies.We have put our heart, our time for this cause.

We come together, we plan, we do

Many of us are young professionals working in various fields

We have people from he area of social service, law, medicine and technology

The 2 days were most fascinating for  the kids. They got to work on computers and internet , and came out with a website for themselves.

It was as part of infokid project. Fireflies conducted the two day training joining hands with Y’s men mulanthuruthy Town, Space and Meidact. 20 students from the y’s lings club attended the training.

The day started with introducing kids to the world of internet and worldwide web. There were a lab set up for the training with uninterrupted connectivity.

The kids were  given hands on training on internet skills.They were also made familiar to different web based application that will help them in their study and growth. Goodle reader, Delicious, the Concept of syndication and RSS, Blogging and its implication were dealt with from the beginning it self

Then the aspects citizen journalism were discussed. Students were very active in the discussions which was on their home town.

The excitement started as the students were given opportunity to build one each blog for them in a given subject, and each one had to given a presentation on it using an LCD projector.

The 2nd day kids got out in the early hours of training with digital cameras, in different groups. They took more than 400 pictures of their home town, in order to upload it to the website they build for the group. Such way they learned to digitally document and systematically present it to the world of web. This act contributed to the social and educational aspects of  locally relevant content building in world wide web . When the presentation of each groups in the taken pictures were  conducted, the excitement ran high. It was an instance of group feeling and bond built in each group.

So at the group came up with a website for themselves , and owned up the responsibility to work on them further-updating and editing, from their own schools, community centers etc.
